A Sunday Well-Spent
As I sit here on a rainy Monday afternoon, I can’t help but feel ready to take on the week ahead. Why? My Sunday well-spent, of course! You know what they (who’s they anyway?) say: A Sunday well-spent brings a week of content. And if you’ve been following along with me for awhile now, you know that I looooove routines (especially routines that make my life easier). Like all my rituals, I’ve taken bits and pieces of the routines of bloggers and content creators I admire and put them together to suit me and my family.
My recipe for a Sunday well-spent:
Strip the bed, sheets in the wash, essential oil mattress spray and fresh sheets on. Having fresh sheets on the bed is probably one of the best feelings in the entire world. It’s right up there with the first sip of coffee in the morning. Having clean sheets to climb into on a Sunday night reassures me that I’m heading into the week on the right note.
Pick up groceries that I ordered on Friday or Saturday pm. One silver lining I’ve found in the dumpster fire of this year has been ordering groceries online. As an added bonus, I get to listen to a podcast as I do the 20 minute drive to the store, as I wait, and then drive home. It’s win-win. Side note: can you tell I’m a mom of a toddler when a drive to the grocery store alone feels like a win?
Meal prep for the week. This doesn’t have to be complicated or over the top. My goal when I meal prep is to make at least one main meal like a soup or big salad for lunches, a batch of protein muffins, a batch of quinoa, and maybe a few chia puddings or overnight oats.
Throw something in the crockpot for dinner. One of my goals for fall was to put the crockpot to good use. Most Sundays I plan a crockpot recipe because a.) it involves little to no effort on my part and b.) leftovers are like bonus meal prep. Another win-win.
Meal plan dinners for the week. Once I’ve got my prep done, I like to make a rough plan on dinners for the week. Because I do my grocery order ahead of time, I’ve usually got an idea of what our dinners will include, but once it’s all put away and my other items are prepped I know more concretely what our dinners will look like for the rest of the week.
Schedule workouts in my journal and maybe write down a goal or focus for the week. I plan to work out every single morning, Monday to Friday, and include the days I will also be teaching a jazzercise class. I like to write down which days I will stretch because if it’s written down I’m more likely to hold myself accountable. A goal or focus for the week can be something as simple as ‘drop off donations to the thrift store’. Again, something much more likely to get done if I’ve written it down and can physically cross it off.
Put on a face mask. This is the last thing I do before bed on Sunday night. I like to think I’m heading into the week with a fresh face.
Not mentioned but also included in this recipe are a good diffuser blend going, some personal development playing, and just general tidying here and there to round it all out. It’s not complicated, and it truly makes me feel content with whatever the week may bring.
Wishing you a great week ahead!
